I gruppen var en anden studerende og jeg. Vi fik ros for vores dybdegående analyse, og læreren var meget tilfreds. Vi kunne godt have været lidt mere strukturerede igennem hele opgaven. Vores lærer sagde det var grunden til vi ikke fik en højere karakter.

Introduction:

How to choose the right coursebook and other teaching materials is one of the most important tasks a teacher must handle. The teacher must take a lot of things into perspective when choosing a coursebook. Among others the availability of the book and the usability of the activities in it must be considered. In this assignment we will make an analysis and assessment of the course book system called “First Choise – for tredje”, which is a course book system for 3rd grade students written by Gitte Frandsen and Tania Kristensen. The coursebook system was published by Gyldendal in the year 2004. The system consists of a “Pupil's book” including a CD with songs etc., a “workbook / teacher's book” and “Toby” the hand puppet and “Toby's Quest” which is a web-material. We will in our analysis implicate theory by Jeremy Harmer, Diane Larsen-Freeman and of course our own experiences and point of views. We will also incorporate excerpts from texts and articles handed out in class dealing with the theme “Teaching beginners”. The selected areas “Layout, design & topics”, “Instructions”, “Usability” etc. that we implicate in our analysis are criteria's for assessment made by Jeremy Harmer .
