Introduction
This essay is an invitation to join me on a journey with the Hogwarts Express into the fantastic world of fantasy. On our journey into the world of fantasy, we will examine the definition of the fantasy genre, and after a glance at the history of fantasy, I will describe two of the popular fantasy books: The Lord of the Rings by J. R.R Tolkien and Harry Potter and the Philopher's Stone by J. K Rowling. Finally, I will get to the main point of my essay: Why is fantasy so popular in the modern society and is it possible to bring the world of fantasy into Danish schools?

Definition of fantasy
Harry Potter (HP) and The Lord of the Rings (LOTR) both belong to the literature genre called the fantastic literature that consists of four 4 sub-genres: fairytales, fantasy, science fiction and the fantastic tale. I believe that both HP and LOTR belong to the fantasy genre. Although it is difficult to define literary fantasy precisely, most critics agree that it is a type of fiction that evokes wonder, mystery or magic – a sense of possibility beyond the ordinary, material, rationally predictable world in which we live.(Mathews 2002 p.1). Fantasy allows us to enter worlds of infinite possibilities and is characterized by a magical universe with Elves, Witches, Wizards and Orcs. The fantasy world is normally set with a narrative frame, which constantly tells us about the contrast between good and evil. Usually, the evil character is trying to take over the fantasy world, and the hero is chosen to prevent this from happening.
