Problem statement:
Our term paper is focused on education in class nine. Regarding intercultural competence, we think it is important to know the history of a country, to get a better understanding about the culture. Our idea is to describe the history of Great Britain for the last 200 years.
We will describe our view of the English culture because according to Karen Risager and Michael Byram (see below), you will as a teacher and a person, have an impression/opinion about the culture of a country. We will in our practice as teachers find out whether this impression is true of not.
In addition to that, we will give some suggestions for tasks in order to deal with the didactical perspectives.

Karen Risager: She describes intercultural competence in three dimensions.
The affective dimension: This dimension is the primary, in the sense it's your basic trust in the outside world and your self-esteem and therefore your conditions for being curious, open-minded and ready to reject all your wrong notions (Risager refers to Byram on this matter as he accentuate this as characteristic for intercultural competence). This is the emotional dimension; do you feel comfortable or uncomfortable when speaking another language! What part does the demand for linguistic perfection play for your self-perception!
